Ithanga

The village of Ithanga was the location of the first project.  Beginning with one small group of 8 farmers, Planting Faith financed irrigation and inputs for the first few crops of French Beans which were sold to a local cannery.  The fourth crop marked the time when the farmers were self-sustaining.

Adding to this original group, in March 2005, 75 farmers were added to form two groups of farmers.  The organization of the groups through the local Anglican churches is a key component of our ministry.  The farmers are able to share the burdens of input costs as well as the benefits of bringing a larger crop to market for better prices.  The leaders of the groups stay in contact with Planting Faith through discipleship training.  It is our prayer that these farmers will continue the discipleship process as our Lord requests in Matthew 28:19, otherwise known as the Great Commission.
